Nor do I appreciate my instructions being blatantly ignored, but more importantly I do not appreciate I Catt’s orders being ignored.
I try my damnedest to be completely respectful and polite to all of our technicians and actors. The last thing I want to do is come off as some high-and-mighty asshole who thinks he’s better than you and can boss you around because of his position. I think most people can testify that when I ask someone to do something as an ASM I’m pretty respectful and polite.
That being said, I do have a somewhat authority position in the theatre, and almost all of my instructions either come directly from Catt or Mr. Powers, or are simply instructions based on safety or just prior knowledge from ASMing so much. So I kind of don’t like it when I’m treated like an inferior. Let alone treated as such by a new technician.
I hope I’m not coming off as condescending or pretentious here, because I don’t mean to. There are totally things that I just straightup don’t know how to do or aren’t confident in, and I’m not claiming to be the wisest techie of all or anything. But I’d rather not be treated like an imbecile, and I’d rather not be blatantly ignored when I tell you to do something for safety reasons.
